Market Development Manager, Aerospace & Defense, Software Defined Radio

Position Overview

 

The NI SDR Global MDM for the Aerospace and Defense industry is responsible for leading global strategic marketing activities related to the NI SDR business unit specifically targeting the Aerospace and Defense industries.  In this role, the successful candidate will focus on key target accounts and work the larger NI sales organization to increase revenue from this market segment.  This position will work with R&D and product management to evolve the SDR portfolio and will support the regional sales activities on these focused accounts and support with specific application and NI SDR product knowledge while also prioritizing support resources to effective sales conclusion.  This role will be responsible for tracking sales opportunities in SalesForce, marketing metrics, and revenue, and will also report to the business unit leadership on a periodic basis.  As a global role, the global MDM must prioritize activities and work directly with the NI field sales organization to efficiently increase revenue by engaging NI SDR business unit resources including application and system engineers, product managers, the R&D organization for new product development for feature gaps, and our partner network.

The NI SDR business unit is seeking a Market Development Manager (MDM) to focus on the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) industries.  In this role, the successful candidate will:

 

  • Identify target market segments in A&D and work with R&D and product management to define and optimize the portfolio for these segments
  • Track and report NI's global SDR performance relative to the A&D sector and report to senior management on a periodic basis
  • Work with Product/Solution Marketing to create sales enablement material to educate and train the regional sellers and account owners
  • Provide input / direction on sales force training and customer education material in collaboration with product management, R&D and commercial teams with a specific focus on A&D applications using SDRs
  • Identify and recommend new strategic partnerships to help complete and deliver solutions for the identified industry/application areas including partnerships, VARs, and OEMs
  • Work to secure key initial wins in targeted applications spaces to understand and validate go-to-market strategies
  • Develop and maintain competitive analysis focused on the A&D sector
  • Actively engage NI sellers and help to develop Sales business and account plans aligned with the SDR stripe and the regional sales organization business priorities for A&D
  • Help close business opportunities by coordinating requirements; providing direction and input for business contracts; and prioritize system engineering and support resources. 

Qualifications
 

Basic Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science
  • U.S citizenship due to client requirements
  • 10 years of aerospace/defense market experience
  • 5 years' experience in business to business high tech sales OR using National Instruments products
  • Willing and able to travel up to 30% of the time, including international travel
Preferred Requirements
  • Exceptional communication skills as well as analytical, project management and planning skills.
  • Strong business acumen and customer focus
  • Knowledgeable about aerospace and defense industry and SDR applications
  • Experience with NI software and hardware, LabVIEW, Opensource Software, etc.
