Application Engineer
Ettus Research, a wholly owned subsidiary of National Instruments, is seeking an Applications Engineer to work as a member of the Ettus Research/NI team to ensure customer success and to assist the R&D team to deliver industry leading software radio platforms to the market. An application engineering role at Ettus Research encompasses a diverse set of responsibilities that follow the product from concept through development and manufacturing. Specifically, the successful candidate will handle pre-sales and post-sales technical support including working directly with customers to specify system solutions that meet their requirements and to ensure customer success once the products are deployed. In addition, the candidate will work with R&D and manufacturing to validate new designs and system prototypes with hands-on lab work to identify and resolve issues. This position resides in Mountain View, California.
Position Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in EE or foreign equivalent
- General knowledge of software radio architectures and RF fundamentals
- Ability to understand HW at the board-level (schematics, layouts, & components)
- Familiar with test equipment such as National Instruments PXIe RF equipment and/or equivalent offerings from Agilent and R&S
- Strong organizational skill and ability to multitask
- Embrace and exhibit a customer-oriented attitude
- Persistently drive tasks and projects to completion
- Enjoy solving problems and suggesting solutions
- Enthusiastic, highly self-motivated, creative, and demonstrates a strong work ethic
- Solid software background with graphical and/or high-level programming languages such as C, C++, and/or LabVIEW
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Ability to generate technical documentation and verbally present and convey technical concepts during both pre-sales and post-sales phases
- Willing to travel 5% - 10%
- US Citizenship or Green Card
Recommended Prior Experience
- GNU Radio and Software Radio concepts
- Experience developing software in the Linux operating system
- Experience developing software for communications systems and/or RF test
